Addis Ababa City Administration expresses solidarity with Afar people and government

 Addis Ababa City Administration and the entire people of the city will continue to support the government and people of Afar State until the national survival campaign is completed, the city administration said. The administration made the announcement in a statement issued today. The full text of the statement is as follows:

 The TPLF, a terrorist group that is determined to destroy Ethiopia, has carried out a heartbreaking attack on 240 civilians who have been displaced by the war in Afar. We, the Addis Ababa City Administration, and the entire population, are deeply saddened by the loss of lives caused by the terrorist attack. On this occasion, we wish comfort to all Ethiopians and the people and government of Afar. 

The people of Afar have been victimized by the terrorist forces because of their courage and perseverance to save the country from collapse. The TPLF terrorist group, which does not see Ethiopia as beyond its own narrow interests, has recently broken the Afar line and repeatedly tried to close the road connecting our country to Djibouti. 

However, the attempt failed, with the ineffective defense and counter-offensive of the invincible Afar Special Forces and militia in collaboration with our heroic defense force. Outraged by the loss of Afar, the Defense Forces and other security forces, the disgruntled TPLF Banda retaliated by firing on the IDPs in the camps, not on the front lines. 

Most of the IDPs affected by the attack were women and children. The fact that the terrorist forces forcibly armed the children of Tigray and set them on fire is a reaffirmation of its inhumanity and hatred of our innocent civilians who fled the war. 

The massacre, abuse and harm inflicted by the terrorist TPLF gang on Afar and other people of our country will only end when the collective arm of the entire Ethiopian people is wiped out.

 This destructive force, which seeks to satisfy the greed of the few by establishing a dictatorship under the Ethiopian sky, is a cancer that will weep for the next generation if it is not eradicated by our sacrifice today. 

And the heart and soul of the Afar people and government that you have suffered today is not to destroy your country; Recognizing that it is a noble sacrifice that will save your children from weeping for the rest of their lives, we express our appreciation and respect for your perseverance and heroism in the campaign to break and bury the terrorist. 

I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that the city government and all our people will not be by your side until the end of the campaign.
